Smart Routing

One short link, many behaviors. Smart Routing lets a single GoByte link adapt to who's clicking and how you want them to arrive — sending visitors in different countries to different destinations, and optionally pausing on a short branded page before it forwards them on.

Hand out one clean link everywhere. GoByte decides where each visitor lands.

What you can do

  • Geo routing

Send visitors to different destinations based on their country. Point shoppers in each region to their local store, show localized landing pages, or keep everyone else on a single default. One link covers the whole world.

  • Interstitial pages

Show a short, branded dwell page before the visitor is forwarded on. Add your logo, a headline, or a sponsor message — then GoByte moves them to the destination automatically after a few seconds.

Set up geo routing

  1. Create or open a link — from the dashboard (New Link) or the API.
  2. Add a route. Under the link's Smart Routing settings, add a rule: pick a country and the destination visitors from that country should reach.
  3. Repeat for each region you want to treat differently — one rule per country, as many as you need.
  4. Set a default destination. Anyone who doesn't match a country rule lands here, so every visitor always has somewhere to go.
  5. Save and share the one link. GoByte matches each visitor to the right destination automatically — no separate links per region.

Localize the whole experience

Geo routing isn't just for stores. Point each country to a page in the right language, currency, or promotion so every visitor feels like the link was made for them.

Interstitial pages

Add a branded pause before the forward

Turn on a timed interstitial to show a short branded page before the visitor continues to the destination. Give it a title, image, and an optional sponsor message, then set how long it shows before forwarding automatically. It's a clean way to reinforce your brand — or feature a sponsor — without adding friction to the click.

Routing options at a glance

Option What it does
Route by country Sends visitors from a chosen country to a specific destination
Default destination Where everyone who doesn't match a country rule lands
Timed interstitial Shows a short branded page, then forwards automatically

Use cases

  • Global brands — one link in every campaign, and each visitor lands on their region's store or site. No more juggling a different URL per market.
  • Localized offers — run a country-specific promotion or price by pointing that region to a dedicated page, while everyone else sees the standard one.
  • Sponsor messages — feature a sponsor on a branded interstitial before the forward, turning a plain redirect into a moment of exposure.
